His last words…

before he left for rehab? “Mom, do you have any money I can borrow?” I laughed and didn’t say a word. He worked every single day for the past two weeks. He probably blew through $500.00 this week for his last party before rehab. No money for cigarettes? Dang…detoxing and rehab will be a bitch but now maybe he can quit another unhealthy nasty vice he can not afford.

About madyson007

I am a mom of 4 who thought she was home free when my oldest son went off to college. My serious blunder? Genetics and being naive or maybe just plain stupid.

Enjoy the peace and quiet! I hope it works for him this time.

Thank God, you finally get a break from this. Keep in mind that you do not have to let him return to your home when his 29 days are up, the choice will be yours, if you decide to say no they will not release him until they find a place for him in a sober living home. I’m not saying what you should do but I just thought you should be aware that this option is there.

The only time Alex had any success at all from rehab was when he was forced into a clean living facility direct from rehab, an Oxford House.

If I say no they will not release him? Is that true? I can force him into sober living? I was never given any choice….J came home when someone dropped him off?

I know that was the rule when my son was in rehab, they told us at a meeting that if they were not allowed to come home that they have to stay in the rehab until they find a place for them (sober living home) to go to. You should call the rehab he is going to and find out.

Oh! I have heard that….if you flat out refuse (and they try to guilt trip you and say things like “he will be on the streets,” etc….but if you stick to your guns and don’t cave…..yes, they have to find him a sober living home.

I didn’t know that about Sober Living. When B had got out the first time there was no option they “suggested” he go to a sober living but would not keep him past the 30 days unless he agreed to stay and we paid for it. Why is it that when they are attempting to quit they go on a huge binge? Then it doesn’t last they still get high a few days later. Well at least J will not be able to get high this time. I hope and pray that something will click in there for him. Glad you have some peace we just don’t get enough of it.
