PAWS…no not the dogs

Post Acute withdrawal Syndrome …It is real.

1.   Inability to think clearly

2.   Memory problems

3.   Emotional overreactions or numbness

4.   Sleep disturbances

5.   Physical coordination problems

6.   Stress sensitivity

I hope he gets some coping skills and strategies  in counseling to deal with these issues.  It is no wonder that the chance of  relapsing is so high in addicts.  We are considering putting him into a somewhat controversial program.  When and if we do I will blog about it.  I have a meeting set up with his counselor to discuss it.

Anyone who has experience or a story to tell regarding this syndrome please comment.

I am a mom of 4 who thought she was home free when my oldest son went off to college. My serious blunder? Genetics and being naive or maybe just plain stupid.
